I have designed a new logo for the new season of Mega Therion club nights, starting Fall 2010 and into Spring 2011. You can see it above in our banner.
The design is directly inspired by the poster for the Bill Graham Captain Beefheart live show at the Fillmore Auditorium, some time in the late 60s/early 70s (if you know what the exact date was, then please feel free to correct me!)
The symbolism is that of the eye of providence or the all-seeing eye of God and is meant to be a cross-bone flag for the more occult, philosophical and esoteric ideologies of our group. Read more about the symbol here: wikipedia
The typeface is actually just a customised version of two type-faces: Psychedelic Fillmore East and Butterfield, with shapes taken from the Bill Graham/Beefheart event poster above.
We hope you enjoy our visual homage to a truly great period of musical history that plays such a big part in the aesthetic and aural inspiration for Mega Therion club.
